Blink 182 Plan Small UK Summer Shows

The kings of Pop Punk have just confirmed several more tour dates in the UK alongside their stadium gigs, in a bid for more intimate shows.

Blink 182 are already playing shows throughout June and July across the UK, but have added more intimate gigs in Manchester and London.
These concerts will follow a lengthy tour from the 7th of June at Birmingham’s National Indoor Arena, stretching across to the likes of Dublin, Sheffield, Glasgow, Bournemouth and Nottingham and rounding off on the 25th of July at London’s Brixton Academy; a venue that can squeeze under 5,000 fans into.

Originally, the tour was due to take place last July with You Me At Six and Four Years Strong as support, until the band announced their new album ‘Neighborhoods’ was not yet complete. The band explained how desperate they were to share their new material with fans, and decided to put off their shows until they could do just that.

With Blink 182’s sixth studio album ‘Neighborhoods’ being released on the 21st of September this year, the threesome ventured on a US tour with My Chemical Romance, much to UK fan’s dismay.

Despite countless internet rumours that the Pop-punkers’ UK leg wouldn’t actually take place, the tour is due to start in just a few short weeks. Support will now come from Twin Atlantic, The Blackout, the All- American Rejects and Four Years Strong, depending on the date of the concert.

Each band member also has their own side-projects, and personal lives, which have become more significant in their lives as they have got older, pushing Blink 182 to one side. However, if lead vocalist and guitarist Tom DeLonge will take a night off from gigging with Angels & Airwaves, vocalist and guitarist Mark Hoppus can manage to stay away from +44 and drummer Travis Barker can keep his arms in mint condition, everything should fall into place.

Blink 182’s UK Tour dates are now as follows:

Birmingham NIA (June 7)
London O2 Arena (June 8, 9)
Dublin O2 Arena (June 12)
Belfast Odyssey Arena (June 13)
Manchester Arena (June 15)
Birmingham LG Arena (June 16)
Sheffield Motorpoint Arena (June 17)
Newcastle Metro Radio Arena (June 19)
Glasgow S.E.C.C (June 20)
Bournemouth International Centre (July 7)

Cardiff Motorpoint Arena (July 10)
Nottingham Capital FM Arena (July 11)
Liverpool Echo Arena (July 12)
Manchester O2 Apollo (July 24)
O2 Academy Brixton (July 25)

Legendary drummer of Blink 182, Travis Barker has said “We’ve super excited to be doing a couple of smaller club shows at the end of our European run. It’s been a while since we’ve done shows in the UK like this and we think it will be awesome for our fans and for us too. I’m leaving next week to come over to Europe and can’t wait to see all of our fans at the shows!”

These additional shows give even more Blink 182 fans the chance to see their heroes, but competition for tickets (which go on sale this Friday at 9am), is going to be fierce!

You can buy tickets on Friday 25th May at 9am from www.NME.com/tickets, www.seetickets.com or www.ticketmaster.com
