Tampere, Finland is now the happy home of the Angry Birds Theme Park.
For a game that started life being
downloaded by thousands straight to their mobile phones for just 59p, the game
and brand have become a worldwide phenomenon.
With a Facebook,
Android, Apple and phone version, with numerous levels and settings, the
game has now been downloaded and played by thousands all over the world. The Rovio Entertainment staff signed over
copyright to the Finnish Särkänniemi
Adventure Park after they considered how well the highly addictive game
could work as a theme park. This follows
an unlicensed Angry Birds theme park
project in China last year.
Särkänniemi
also features a children’s zoo, tower and museum, but was in desperate need of
a modern revamp, and what better way than with Angry Birds. And as if Rovio
Entertainment needed any help, sales are thought to have rocketed even
more.
The theme park is designed for young
children and families (which is an odd target audience considering how large a
variety of people play the original game). It also has games, places to buy
food, twelve rides and an adventure course.
