Baz Luhrmann Releases ‘Great Gatsby’ Trailer

Baz Luhrman, director of ‘Moulin Rouge’ and ‘Romeo and Juliet’ has released the full theatrical trailer for his new 2012 blockbuster ‘The Great Gatsby’.

The Australian director/producer/movie genius has roped in Leonardo DiCaprio, Tobey McGuire and Isla Fisher for the starring roles in his theatrical adaptation of the Scott Fitzgerald classic. True to form, Luhrman has recycled talent he already knows and loves with DiCaprio in a lead role.

Originally, the book was published way back in 1925, but judging by his previous work, Luhrman is sure to put his own spin on the story. He is also sure to jazz up the plot a little, so lovers of the book are sure to come across a few surprises.

Judging by the two-and-a-half-minute trailer, the film will be visually impeccable, with wondrous special effects, spectacular Gatsby (DiCaprio) characters, lots of drama and the most over-the-top, beautiful set and costume design. And has there has not been a filmic adaptation attempt of the book since 1974, hopes are high that Baz’s will be a success.

The story takes places in 1922 New York through aspiring writer Nick Carraway’s (McQuire’s) eyes who becomes intrigued by the loud party life of his neighbour, in Long Island. Mysterious and unusual, Gatsby becomes friends with Carraway, in a bid to help Carraway win the heart of his ex-girlfriend, again.

Available in cinemas in both 2D and 3D versions, the film will be released on the 26th of December this year. ‘The Great Gatsby’ will propel the viewer into a world of endless cash, heavy partying, betrayal, passion and death.
