Boyband One Direction
have been confirmed to headline one of this year’s iTunes Festival dates, which is to be held at Camden Roundhouse from the 1st -30th of September
this year. Usher has also been named
to kick of the run of shows.
The free festival
has been moved to September from its regular July spot. Former White Stripes frontman Jack White will headline the venue on
the 8th of September, along with Norah Jones on the 10th of September, and many more to
follow across the next few weeks.
Last year, the iTunes Festival held host to the likes
of Coldplay, Foo Fighters, Jimmy Eat
World, Chase and Status and Manic
Street Preachers. The ticket ballot system will, once again, be used to
select the lucky few to experience the veterans of the music world in a 5000
capacity venue. It is also an opportunity for huge bands and artists to play to
smaller, more intimate crowds and reach out to even more potential fans.
One Direction have been labelled as
gate-crashers of a credible music scene by headlining a date, although band
member Harry Styles expressed his
delight at the slot; “Every year we see some of our favourite bands and artists
on the bill so to be part of the line-up this year is obviously incredibly
exciting and we’re hugely grateful for the opportunity,’
